The 1980’s Racing Experience For Today’s Modern Gamer

Dipping my toe into the video gaming waters for the first time in the late 1980’s and early 90’s meant plenty of time spent with 8-bit graphics. What was then cutting edge is now very retro, and new game Drift Stage looks to combine the two, using modern graphics to add a third dimension to those old arcade racers such as OutRun, Rad Racer or Super Monaco GP.

The Toyota AE86 and Ferrari Testarossa look-alikes have been modeled using polygons, but have been plastered with glorious 8-bit pixelated textures, blasting you straight back to the period of pastel suits and synth-pop. And how about that sunset in the distance? And that soundtrack?! Oh my!

Drift Stage is currently in early development, but is certainly one to look out for in the future.
