Alonso will miss the Monaco Grand Prix to race his first Indy 500 with McLaren, powered by Honda engines and run by Andretti.
The two-time Formula 1 world champion killed it at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway test. He passed the rookie orientation programme and looked right at home in an IndyCar machine.
But he also killed a few other things… two birds that got caught in the wrong moment during his maiden Indy 500 test.
He literally killed two birds with an IndyCar-shaped stone, hitting his two front wheels at the exact same time. Oops…
It was perhaps the only real blip from the entire day, and he probably didn’t even notice he’d hit them.
