It’s finally here. The official release of Assetto Corsa 1.0. The highly acclaimed racing sim is no long in alpha, or beta. It’s no longer early access. It’s a fully fledged video game, and version 1.0 sees a whole host of improvements and additions.
Quite possibly the biggest leap is the inclusion of the career mode, which has always been present on the game’s menu, but greyed out. As well as that, all cars now display visual bodywork damage, and the internals such as the engine and suspension can now take knocks too.
But developers Kunos Simulazioni haven’t stopped there. 9 new cars are available. NINE! The LaFerrari and AF Corse’s 458 GTE are Maranello’s inclusion, there’s the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde, 4 cars from Norwich to add to the wealth of Lotuses already in the game, the classic Shelby Cobra, and the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 joins the ranks of AC’s GT3 roster. And you can take all of these for a spin on an inch-perfect rendition of the Spa Francorchamps circuit on your own, against the improved AI, or against a couple of dozen friends in multiplayer. There’s a whole host of under-the-hood changes and improvements as well.
What’s more is that being a PC game, Assetto Corsa is fully moddable, and a full 2014 F1 season mod is in development with several cars already being available. The 2014 GP2 mod is already complete! So what are you waiting for? Ditch those PS4’s and XboxOne’s, crank up Steam and get racing!
