As DJ Khalid would say, ‘another one’. The Bahrain International Circuit has become the latest track to sign a multi-year contract extension with F1, meaning we’ll continue to race there until 2036. Wowww.
It’s not really come as a huge surprise, as Bahrain has become quite the staple on the calendar. Not only has it stepped up to host the first race of the season during the pandemic, but it’s also helped host pre-season testing, and we raced around the outer layout for the 2020 Sakhir GP.
This news follows several circuits receiving extensions in recent months, including Singapore, Japan, Abu Dhabi and China.
F1 is scheduled to head back to Bahrain for the first race of the 2022 season next month, with the Bahrain Grand Prix taking place on the 20th of March.
We are incredibly honoured to announce that Formula 1 today confirmed that Bahrain will stay on the calendar through until 2036 inclusive, extending F1 in Bahrain by a further 10 years.
