Fire is one of the scariest things that can happen in motorsport – think Jos Verstappen’s Benetton being engulfed in flames at Hockenheim in 1994, or Heikki Kovalainen playing fireman at Singapore in 2010.
Racer Ben Waddell got a terrifying first-hand look at fire this weekend when a fuel line on his car burst, showering him and the car with fuel. Knowing a fire was imminent he stopped the car as quick as possible and noped the hell out of there just as the car erupted in flames as you can see in the video he uploaded to his Twitter afterwards:
Scary moment today as my car caught on fire after a fuel leak. Lucky to walk away and most importantly I am okay, with only a few blisters. pic.twitter.com/Q8MunMyuK2

Thankfully aside from some blisters Ben was ok, but the same can’t be said of his car:
Here is the after math along with the @GoPro from the fire yesterday! Very thankful to walking away with hardly any injuries! pic.twitter.com/llThIUHK6X
