Bottas Paused His Summer Break To Win In A 95km Cycling Race

While other drivers are kicking back on the beach with a few tequila sunrises, Valtteri Bottas couldn’t help but scratch that competitive itch, but this time he’s on two wheels instead of four!

Bottas competed in the SBT GRVL Red race, one of four gruelling road and gravel courses for a cycling competition in Steamboat Springs, USA.

Bottas completed his 60-mile course in just under three hours, finishing with a time of 2 hours 56 minutes and 22 seconds, coming fourth overall, second in his division and first in his age group – four minutes behind the overall winner.

His partner, professional Australian cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, won the women’s race around the 100-mile blue course.

That’s right, Bottas took a break from racing…by racing! (Though neither he nor Tiffany fancied taking on the ultimate 142-mile black course 😅)

This is the second year in a row the Finn has spent his summer break on two wheels, finishing fifth overall and third in his age group at last year’s Red race too!

Congrats Valtteri! Since this time it’s a P1, traditions now call for a beer right?
