Jenson Button Caught On Fire At The Finish Before It Was Cool

Daniel Ricciardo’s engine blowing up as he crossed the finish line at Bahrain had to be one of the coolest ways to celebrate ever, bad news for Ricciardo though is he wasn’t the first guy to do it.

Flick back to the 2006 Australian Grand Prix and one Jenson Button was about to cross the line in fifth place for Honda, his engine though had other ideas and burst into flames as he headed round the final corner.

Back then the teams were much more paranoid about engine failures and Button actually parked up deliberately, choosing to sacrifice his four points to avoid a ten-second penalty at the next race.

This fan cam catches the action from the stands.
