It’s not just single-seaters which can suffer badly from wheel-on-wheel contact, as the first race of the 2018 Brazilian Porsche Carrera Cup season at Curitiba showed.
Four laps into the race, Edu Azevedo was battling with Miguel Paludo when the two made contact. It wasn’t a big touch, but it was enough to send Azevedo into a spectacular series of flips and rolls as his car dug into the turf, even flipping over a barrier.
The red flags were thrown as medical teams were dispatched to the car, but incredibly, Azevedo was OK – although understandably shaken.
