Check out this video of the upcoming Roborace car undergoing windtunnel testing at the Williams F1 factory.
Roborace is an upcoming championship for electrically powered autonomous cars which will follow the Formula E championship calendar. The idea of a race series that doesn’t have any drivers might be a little bit hard to get excited about but the technology is sure to be interesting.
Initial renderings of the car looked a little bit weird but in the flesh, the 45 per cent scale windtunnel model actually looks pretty damn cool. We can’t wait to see what the finished thing looks like when it’s unveiled later this year.

It’s good to see the aerodynamics being taken seriously – after all, you don’t go to the Williams windtunnel if you’re not bothered about such things! It leaves little doubt that this is definitely going to be a proper motorsport championship and not just a tech demo, which is good to see. After all, racing fans want to watch racing!
