It’s been a while since Daniil Kvyat has been amid any motorsport-related news, but the former Red Bull and Alpha Tauri driver could be making his single-seater comeback. No, not in F1, a different ‘Formula.’ But which one?
If you guessed the all-electric racing series, Formula E, congratulations – here’s a trophy 🏆
The Race has reported Kvyat will take part in the Formula E rookie test in Berlin later this month with NIO 333, and it will be his first-ever run in a Formula E car. Of course, he’s not just doing this to pass some time – he’s hopeful of finding a full-time seat for the 2023-24 season.
It is understood that he has spent some time in the team’s simulator and has had a seat fitting ahead of the Berlin test in two weeks. Exciting.
Kvyat had his last F1 race start at the 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and tested for Alpine whilst serving as their reserve driver in 2021. He’s currently racing for Prema in the LMP2 category of the World Endurance Championship (WEC), but it seems as though the drive to race in single-seaters hasn’t faded away.
He’s not the only driver to run in the Berlin test, one-time Williams F1 starter Jack Aitken has also been announced for Envision Racing, with other drivers such as Red Bull protege Zane Maloney also taking part.
If you’re a fan of Formula E, would you like to see Daniil race in the series?
