Classic onboard footage of Formula 1 isn’t usually all that interesting but this video of Fangio driving around Monaco is well worth a watch.

Filmed for part of a 1981 documentary, the clip has some onboards of Fangio driving one of his title winning cars – the Lancia-Ferrari D50 -as well as some lovely slow motion footage of him sliding around the Principality. Also interesting is that the track hasn’t been properly closed as the Maestro blasts past pedestrians, lampposts and parked cars. Poetry in motion? You bet.
