Today Fernando Alonso celebrates his 34th birthday. Since his debut with Minardi in 2001, Alonso has won two world titles and come close many, many times.

But what has been Fernando Alonso’s greatest drive to date? It’s not an easy one to pick, after all, the Spaniard has driven more epic races than you can count on your fingers.

2012 saw many of Alonso’s greatest performances. In a some-what uncompetitive Ferrari, Alonso came within three points of winning the title. One of his best drives was at Valencia where he took an emotional home victory after starting 11th on the grid.

But Alonso has had a whole host of other great drives: his maiden win for Renault at Hungary 2003, holding off Michael Schumacher at Imola in 2005 or winning that crazy race at the Nurburgring for McLaren back in 2007.
