Why Not Have Both?: Two Gilles Villeneuve Ferrari’s Up For Auction

A quick look on YouTube and it’s easy to see why Gilles Villeneuve was so loved by Ferrari and their fans, despite only winning six Formula One races. The legendary Canadian driver has not one, but two of his famous Ferrari’s up for sale at an upcoming Bonhams auction, and their both expected to make a million.

1978 Ferrari 312 T3

One of five cars manufactured by Ferrari for the 1978 F1 season. This car won at Silverstone in the hands of Carlos Reutemann, while Villeneuve won the 1979 Race of Champions at Brands Hatch with it, beating the likes of Niki Lauda and Mario Andretti.

Being a classic Ferrari it, of course, has a 12 cylinder engine. Full specs here.

1979 Ferrari 312 T4

This 312T4 was a car that Gilles Villeneuve took to victory in South African and Long Beach. Dr. Carlo Bonomi, a friend of Enzo Ferrari, was such a big fan of the Canadian, that he personally asked Ferrari if he could have one of Villeneuve’s cars. Enzo approved and Dr. Bonomi paid out and took home this legendary Formula One car. Full specs here.
