In just over two weeks time, all eyes will be on Baku in Azerbaijan as the host of the European Grand Prix… or you know, people will just be watching the Le Mans 24 Hours instead.
Anyway, we’ve seen a few pictures of the Baku City Circuit but now EuroFormula Open driver Gulhuseyn Abdullayev (nope, never heard of him either) has given the street track its maiden test run in a GP3 car.
As expected the track is very, very narrow in parts but it does boast some high-speed sections which might see at least a bit of overtaking. Right?
The 3.732 mile track will feature 20 corners that will twist and turn around iconic landmarks in the Azerbaijan capital, including the Azadliq Square and Old City.
So let’s get this straight. A Hermann Tilke-designed street track, high-speed sections, lots of 90 degree turns… this is just going to be another Valencia isn’t it?
