Ah the classic ‘Aston Martin to Formula One’ rumour is back, this time as a rebranding of current F1 team, Force India.

The luxury British sportscar manufacturer had already been rumoured in a tie-up with Red Bull earlier this year but now Autosport believes that Force India are set for an Aston Martin rebranding.

It’s also believed that the change in name is part of a link-up with Johnnie Walker (current sponsor of McLaren) who would paint the cars in a shiny-new blue and gold livery.

Aston Martin is already 5% owned by Mercedes who are Force India’s current engine supplier, so it perhaps isn’t entirely out of the question and it’s understood that Aston want to take on McLaren and Ferrari in Formula One, who are their current rivals in the sportscar market.
