Formula Drift: F1’s best (and worst) power-slides

With action sports and rally star Ken Block set to test an F1 car at Monza, many people are excited to see him sliding an F1 car around the famous Italian circuit. However, it’s not the first time we’ve seen F1 cars power-sliding.

Below are some of the best examples of Formula One drifting.

Jaime Alguersuari – Bahrain 2010

In 2010 Jaime Alguersuari at Bahrain managed to take two whole corners on opposite lock. There’s even a brilliant Takeshi’s Castle style video for this drift.

Drift Score: 9/10

Marc Surer, Michele Alboreto, Keke Rosberg – Monaco 1983

On a wet track at Monaco in 1983 drivers tried to slide their way through Casino Square, some better than others.

Drift Score: Surer 6/10, Alboreto 2/10, Rosberg 4/10

Lewis Hamilton – Malaysia 2008

Lewis Hamilton drifted round the final turn at Malaysia in 2008. The onboard shot shows him controlling the slide perfectly.

Drift Score: 8/10

Jean Alesi – Monaco 1990

Jean Alesi took to the streets of Monaco like a duck to water, sliding his car round the streets of Monte Carlo on his first visit to the principality. An awesome lap shows him sliding the car through Rascasse and Casino Square.

Drift Score: 6/10

Domenico Schiattarella – Monaco 1995

Seen before in Top Ten Epic Fails here is Domenico Schiattarella trying to slide his way into the Rascasse Jean Alesi style. YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG!

Drift Score: 0/10

Marc Gene – Italy 1999

Marc Gene pushed his Minardi as hard as he could at Monza in 1999. He produced an awesome drift into the lesmos but his second attempt into the first corner wasn’t so successful.

Drift Score: Attempt One 9/10, Attempt Two 3/10

How would you rate these F1 power-slides?
