Because when you reach a certain age in life you no longer give a crap about what you say anymore, Mercedes team chief Niki Lauda has gone on Red Bull’s TV channel Servus TV and revealed all about his own team’s driver, Lewis Hamilton.
Lauda was asked by journalist Roger Benoit on the show if reports were true about Hamilton destroying his room after his qualifying crash in Baku that meant his teammate Nico Rosberg grabbed pole position.
He responded with: “He did it because he had crashed. He’ll have to pay for that. You can count on that. He told me I couldn’t come in because he was going to destroy everything. This is how it was.”
That wasn’t all though, the Mercedes chief also revealed that recent newspaper reports about Hamilton and Rosberg getting along was in fact one big fat lie.
“Lewis lied about it, simple as that,” said Lauda. “He just said something. He wanted to be the softener in order to have his peace last weekend.
“He does what he can. The fight gets hotter the longer Nico is in front.”
Don’t hold back ay, Niki.
