Here Are Alonso’s Thoughts On His Upcoming WEC Campaign

Although Toyota has been joined in LMP1 this season by a load of privateer entrants, as the only team with a hybrid powertrain the team should have an advantage over its rivals. As a result, the TS050 the team will race this year is pretty much the same as the one it used in 2017.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few weeks or something, I’m sure you’ll know this is the car that Fernando Alonso will drive in the 2018/19 ‘super season’, which includes Le Mans.

He’s been testing the car and talks about his thoughts on the upcoming season in this video. He seems to be pretty blown away by the performance, particularly the acceleration, which is something he says every racing driver should experience.

(function(d, s, id) {
var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;

fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Fernando will be sharing the car with Kazuki Nakajima and 2014 WEC champion Sebastien Buemi, a duo who are well aware of how to win races. Unless that race is Le Mans. Toyota ain’t so good at winning Le Mans. This year has to be the year the curse gets broken, right?
