We see a lot of F1 demo runs take place, and they’re usually in city centre locations – best suited to donuts and burnouts – or mid-speed track runs.
But at the Zandvoort circuit for the ‘Jumbo Race Days Festival’, Max Verstappen was able to put in some quick laps in a 2012 RB8.
He ended up breaking Luca Badoer’s lap record at the Dutch circuit, a 1:19.880 set in a Ferrari F2001 back in 2001.
Verstappen smashed the fastest ever lap of Zandvoort during his Sunday morning demo runs, having taken things a bit steadier on Saturday.
He put in a 1:19.511 to set a new record for a lap around the historic circuit and Red Bull has now released footage, from a range of angles, of the run.
It’s not a full onboard like we were hoping but it certainly shows him pushing hard at the bumpy, sweeping track.
