Here’s How Each F1 Teammate Qualifying Battle Ended In 2021

There we have it, the final qualifying session of the 2021 F1 season is done and dusted in Abu Dhabi. We love a teammate comparison, and here is all the data you need for each team this year. In equal machinery, which driver has come out as the top dog in qualifying in 2021?

We’ve compiled a list of head-to-heads from qualifying and sprint race qualifying this season.

Quick disclaimer: we’ve separated the ‘traditional’ qualifying and the Sprint results for both teams. Friday’s ‘normal’ qualifying at Silverstone, Monza and Interlagos has been included under the ‘qualifying’ results for all comparisons and all results are pre-penalty.

QUALIFYING

Lewis Hamilton 17 – 5 Valtteri Bottas

Although Hamilton originally outqualified Bottas in Brazil, his disqualification for a DRS infringement awards the point to his teammate.

Lewis Hamilton 1 – 2 Valtteri Bottas

QUALIFYING

Due to testing positive for COVID-19, Raikkonen missed the Dutch and Italian Grand Prix and was replaced by reserve driver Robert Kubica. Giovinazzi outqualified Kubica on both occasions.

SPRINT

Antonio Giovinazzi 1 – 1 Kimi Raikkonen

Due to testing positive for COVID-19, Raikkonen missed the Italian Grand Prix Sprint and was replaced by reserve driver Robert Kubica. Giovinazzi outqualified Kubica on both occasions.

QUALIFYING

Mick Schumacher 20 – 0 Nikita Mazepin

Due to an accidents in FP3 in Monaco and Hungary, Schumacher didn’t participate in qualifying. Because there is no comparison to be had, we didn’t give the points to Mazepin.

SPRINT

Mick Schumacher 2 – 1 Nikita Mazepin

QUALIFYING

George Russell 20 – 2 Nicholas Latifi

SPRINT

  • Gasly has really impressed me with his qualifying this season. On top of out-qualifying Tsunoda in every weekend but one, he’s been consistently in the top 7 or so, regularly beating McLarens and Ferraris in an Alpha Tauri. Shame he ended the year with a lacklustered quali.

  • I was really impressed by Lando, Pierre, Carlos JR and Max.
Lando really showed and sealed that He is a a future multiple WDC candidate and there is no fluke to His results. Consistent couple seasons and was going for a win this season and consistently for top positions!

Gasly showed that RedBull spell was a mishap and he’s tier above all other prospects, and a multiple WDC candidate like Lando.
Consistent last 2 seasons at top level.
Matching often in quali Sergio Perez who’s in lot faster car and sometimes even in races.

Carlos in new bolid totally outdone Daniel Ric. in comparison, really giving Leclerc a run for his abilities (and many consider Charles being a future multiple WDC candidate).
Consistent multiple seasons in a row at top level.

Max is the embodiment of Driving at the Limit (for whole season!), future Schumacher and Hamilton of the sport. Beyond consistent, a machine.

This whole new generation looking bonkers, I think that half of the field is stacked with WDC talent.
Current generation the pedigree of drivers skill is at all time high.
The most spectacular season there ever was 2021 and ever will be!

  • Gasly in hes Qually performance.

Carlos in how quick he got on par with Leclerc where everyone thought Leclerc would destroy him.

Lando aspecially up to Russia was amazing and really showed hes potential and he is still growing.

  • It’s almost impressive that Mazepin ends the season without a single accomplishment to point to. Never outqualified his teammate, never made it ouf of q3, never did anything in the races and finished 21st in a twenty driver grid.

  • Thomas Ferretti says:

The mazepin pettiness is getting old. Even if he outqualified mick by default, he should get those two points. Remember, we race as one, even the a-holes.
