IndyCar Once Again Came Down To The Final Laps Of The Race

Another IndyCar race, another battle for victory in the final laps. After an incredible season opener at St Pete, IndyCar headed to Phoenix (no, not the terrible F1 track from the early 90s) for the first oval race of the year.

The race went down to the wire again and it was rookie Robert Wickens (yep, again!) who was leading on his first ever oval race, with reigning champion Josef Newgarden chasing him down on fresher tyres.

It was an impressive display from Wickens who ultimately lost out to Newgarden, but he himself seemed surprised to have finish second on worn tyres.

Alexander Rossi was third and went to congratulate Wickens on his debut podium in a great display of sportsmanship, after the two of them collided last time out in St Pete, costing them victory.
