Because apparently he hasn’t had enough of Honda yet, Jenson Button has signed a deal with the Japanese manufacturer to race full-time in the Super GT series.
Button retired-but-not-retired at the end of the 2016 season but this year raced in the F1 Monaco Grand Prix and made his Super GT debut at the Suzuka 1000km.
The announcement happened during Honda’s end-of-season motorsport celebration at Motegi. Button said:
“I’ll be racing for Honda and have a contract to race with Honda in Super GT in 2018. It’s been a dream for the last couple of years, I love the category. I did one race in Suzuka this year, and it got me very excited.
“I’m very excited about the new season. There’s a lot of testing to be done to feel comfortable and hopefully improve the package and go out next year and be competitive.”
We’ve not seen the last of Jenson Button in motorsport yet.
