Want to own a beautiful supercar with strong links to Formula 1? If you have over £250,000, this could well be the car for you…

Jenson Button’s old Ford GT is going up for auction, and as you’d expect from such a fast and striking car, it’s not cheap.
Yep, the 2009 F1 champion – who is currently taking a break from F1 – used to own this supercar. It’s one of just 101 to come to Europe and one of five marked as ‘VIP’ cars.
The car was built in 2005 (back when Button was in his BAR Honda days) and is powered by a meaty 550bhp, 5.4-litre V8 engine. So, it not only looks epic – especially in white with the blue stripes – but sounds it too.

It has a top speed of 205mph and a 0-60mph time of 3.5 seconds, so it’s pretty damn quick. It’s been lightly used, with only 8350 miles on the clock.
The current owner bought the car in 2011 and it seems to have been lovingly looked after ever since, so it’s in beautiful condition.

With Button often sharing pictures of his favourite cars on social media, you have to wonder why he’d sell his Ford GT.
The link to the F1 champion has probably raised the auction price a fair bit, with estimates of between £250,000 – £300,000.

Quite a lot of money, but a beautiful car nonetheless and one that has a unique tie to F1 history. It’s being auctioned off on either the 25 or 26 February at the Silverstone Auction’s Race Retro auction in Warwickshire, if anyone has a load of spare cash and is interested.
