Takuma Sato has become the first Japanese driver ever to win the Indianapolis 500, after winning an epic race in the 101st running of the event.
Sato was locked in a battle with Helio Castroneves and fellow ex-F1 driver Max Chilton in the final stages of the race but managed to take the third victory in four years for Andretti.
It was particularly sweet for Sato who came desperately close to winning the race in 2012 but crashed on the final lap when making a move for the race victory.
