The Malaysian Grand Prix is always ridiculously hot, so the last thing you want on top of that is to be sat in an F1 car that’s on fire. That’s exactly what happened to Kevin Magnussen during first practice in Sepang.
A “fuel leak from a breather” caused K-Mag’s RS16 to burst into flames while he was being wheeled back into the garage and it took a lot of his Renault mechanics to put the fire out, as the stubborn RS16 just wanted to stay on fire.

The fire caused the session to be red flagged and the Dane unsurprisingly took no further part in the session, a quick look at his car and you’ll understand why.
Magnussen soon made a joke out of things though and was back out running in FP2.

You’re not wrong, Kevin.
