Ginetta has unfortunately confirmed Manor’s withdrawal from the Spa round of the WEC, citing cash flow problems as the issue.
The striking blue liveried Mecachrome-powered G60-LT-P1s only set one installation lap throughout practice, and an official statement by Ginetta reveals the unfortunate reason as to why the team cannot run this weekend. The statement reads,
“The required funds for Ginetta were due some time ago and whilst we understand that TRS has been working with its sponsors to sort the issues, without payment, Ginetta cannot allow the cars to race.”
In the statement, it was revealed that this should be a relatively short-term issue, and that the team hopes to be running sooner rather than later.
Ginetta boss Lawrence Tomlinson added,
“The required funds for Ginetta were due some time ago and whilst we understand that TRS has been working with its sponsors to sort the issues, without payment, Ginetta cannot allow the cars to race.”
It’s a far from ideal start to the campaign for what was looking like an exciting squad. Hopefully they’ll be ready to go racing sooner rather than later.
