At a recent round of the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup at Magny-Cours two drivers got together on the pit straight and had a fairly sizeable accident. Both cars speared into the wall right next to a marshals post, sending bits of debris flying all over the place.
Rather worryingly, bits of the barrier also became dislodged in the impact, narrowly missing a photographer who was also in the area.
Understandably the race was red-flagged, and thankfully the marshals, drivers and the photographer were all OK. It could have been so much worse, especially considering that’s an area of the track where you might not expect a car to hit the wall.
