Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying saw Nico Rosberg set pole position from Lewis Hamilton in yet another Mercedes front row lockout but the real story from the session was the comedy from the McLaren drivers.
First Fernando Alonso sat sunbathing in a chair after his car broke down… again, and then he joined teammate Jenson Button on the podium for some ‘totes ironic bants’ to the amusement of fans and no doubt the disgust of Ron Dennis.
Here’s how Twitter reacted…
Forget qualifying, the real competition right now is the McLaren jokes #F1

Alonso: “We passed that close to the podium, Jenson and me, and said we will not be that close again so let’s take a picture.”

10 years ago in Brazil, Alonso stood on the podium as world champion for the first time.
Now? It’s an ironic joke. Funny how things change.
