If McLaren had as many points as they’ve had grid drops this year they could have been up there challenging Mercedes for the title. Sadly though, it’s not the case and despite it only being the Friday of the Belgian Grand Prix, Jenson Button already has a 25 place grid penalty and Fernando Alonso a further five more.

McLaren are likely to change a few more engine parts over the weekend so don’t be surprised if Alonso and Button start Sunday’s race from Calais.
