At Goodwood Festival of Speed back in 1999, Nick Heidfeld drove the title winning McLaren MP4/13 up the hill. But rather than cruising up the hill and doing a few donuts for the crowd, the German put his foot to floor and went for it.
The Mercedes V10 powered machine screamed up the hill in a record 41.6 seconds, a time that will never be broken. Why? Because even McLaren themselves realised that an F1 car going full speed up the narrow and twisty hill climb was far, far, far too dangerous.
But hey, now we know there were no consequences it’s awesome to watch!
