Andrew lost his sight in 1997 and as such, has only been able to imagine how F1 cars have evolved over the years since.
To give him some idea of exactly how they’ve changed, Mercedes invited him down to the factory for him to feel what they’re like. Starting with his the car of his favourite driver, Nigel Mansell’s 1992 Williams FW14B, he then moves on to the 2019 Mercedes W10. It’s incredible to see his reactions as he discovers the complexity of the front wings as well as discovering exactly how DRS works.
Huge props to Mercedes (and Williams!) for one of the most wholesome bits of F1 content we’ve seen and giving Andrew an experience he’ll never forget.
