What a difference a couple weeks make, hey? It’s now been almost two weeks since the dramatic season finale in Abu Dhabi that saw Lewis Hamilton back team-mate Nico Rosberg into his competitors in the hope of winning the world title.

Since then Rosberg has been crowned champion, Hamilton’s been told he’d be punish by Mercedes, Nico Rosberg’s announced his shock retirement from F1, Mercedes have said that Hamilton’s still not off the hook for his Abu Dhabi actions and now… they’ve admitted they were wrong to give the Briton an order in the first place.

“In the heat of the moment, sometimes when you make decisions you get them wrong,” Toto Wolff told Sky Sports F1.

“In our mind, the way we think, this race is giving us the same number of points as other races and we try to win that one, not considering that there was much more at stake for the drivers.

“How the race panned out, we should have communicated differently and in hindsight let them race in the way they deemed to be appropriate.”

Now Toto has to make perhaps an even tougher call. Who’s going to be Lewis Hamilton’s team-mate next year?
