Here’s The Full Radio Transcript From The Explosive Final Laps Of The Mexican GP

The team radio at the end of last weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix had us all grabbing the popcorn while we heard Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel having a war of words over the airwaves.

You’d think we’d already heard it all, right? Wrong. Here’s the full radio transcript from the final laps of the race which also includes some colourful language from Daniel Ricciardo.

Lap 68

Red Bull Racing: “OK give the position, I think you’re going to have to give the position, Max.”
Max Verstappen: “Let me know.”
Red Bull Racing: “OK stay there.”

Lap 69

Sebastian Vettel: “He has to let me go, he has to let me go.”
Ferrari: “OK copy, stay calm.”
Vettel: “No it’s not right. I don’t stay calm. Because he’s just blocking me into Ricciardo.”
Ferrari: “Copy that.”

Ferrari: “OK Verstappen has to give you the position. Watch for Ricciardo behind. Three laps to go.”
Vettel: “Move, move for f*** sake.”
Ferrari: “He has been informed, he has to move.”
Vettel: “He is a bastard, that’s what he is.”

Lap 70

Vettel: “I mean am I the only one or are you not seeing what I’m seeing? He’s just backing me off into Ricciardo. F*** me!”
Ferrari: “He has to fight within, you have to fight within. Charlie…”
Vettel: “What the hell are you talking about? He cut the chicane.”
Ferrari: “OK. Copy.”
Vettel: “And now he’s brake-testing me.”

Daniel Ricciardo: “That was f***ed. He moved under braking. I had already committed. F***!”

Vettel: “I mean, honestly. I think I’m going to hit someone. I think I have a puncture. Rear Left.”
Ferrari: “Tyres are fine, tyres are fine.”
Vettel: “He has to give me the position. End of the story.”
Ferrari: “Charlie said… Charlie said…”
Vettel: “Yeah? You know what? Here’s a message to Charlie: F*** off! Honestly, F*** off!”
Ferrari: “Sebastian, Sebastian calm down. They are under investigation I know that it’s not fair. But calm down. Put your head down and we will talk afterwards.”

In lap

Daniel Ricciardo: “Yeah. But what about all these guys outbreaking at the first chicane? I mean Lewis at the start, that’s just… Put a f***ing wall there and they won’t do it. Those f***ing guys. F***ing kindergarten stuff.”
Red Bull: “Daniel that was as blatant a move as we’ve ever seen. The event notes are very, very clear. I don’t think you’ve got anything to fear. It was a great effort that you’ve put in and it was a great move that should have made stick.”

After the race, Max Verstappen was given a five-second time penalty for cutting the chicane, while Sebastian Vettel got a ten-second time penalty for moving under braking, eventually promoting Daniel Ricciardo to the final podium spot.
