With such high-speeds, most IndyCar crashes are pretty bad but this one from yesterday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway was particularly nasty.
Drivers and buddies Conor Daly and Josef Newgarden were battling for position when Daly got loose and collected his countryman into the barrier. Even worse was that the momentum then connected the two cars and pushed Newgarden into the barrier head first… well, roll-hoop first thankfully.
Unbelievably just a few hours after the crash, Newgarden posted this selfie from the hospital.
Just give me a bit of time and I’ll be ready to kick some ass. Very happy that @conordaly22 is okay and I’ll be ready to rock soon enough. Thank you so much to everyone that helped me – our safety crew and everyone @indycar / @txmotorspeedway / Parkland Hospital. We are so fortunate to work with the best in the business. I’m gonna drink a ton of milkshakes, heal my bones and get my ass back into the car. I’m so fortunate to have so many wonderful people in my corner. See ya soon.
Newgarden suffered a broken collarbone and fractured hand in the crash. Get well soon, Josef!
