Most of us will never get to experience what it’s like to drive a single seater racing car, let alone a Formula One beast at top speed. Video games give us a chance, but it’s still just a telly and a controller. You could go for the simulator experience, but that’s just as expensive as the real thing once you’ve costed in the massive screen, realistic cockpit, hydraulics and the like.
With the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset there’s a happy medium. It’s not out for another year or so yet, but just look what it can do when you plug it into a PC equipped with Live For Speed and a wheel and pedals.
