For anyone who doesn’t know, the Trophee Andros is an ice racing championship and – unsurprisingly, as it’s winter – it was in action this weekend.
F1 racer Romain Grosjean was the star of the show in the Super Final on Saturday, taking pole position and going on to win the race in his Renault Clio.
However, on the run to the chequered flag, it all kicked off behind him in the battle for third place at Alpe d’Huez.
Ex-F1 driver Olivier Panis and DTM racer Adrien Tambay were battling it out for third place and the final spot on the podium.
But at the exit of the last corner on the final lap, they collided and crashed into the ice banks bordering the circuit.
The L’Equipe TV channel then appeared to catch footage of Panis approaching Tambay at speed after the race and punching him.
Whether or not it escalated into a proper fight, we’re not sure (the view of the cameras was obscured) but both drivers were excluded from the race.
