For the 2007 season, Honda went down an unusual route with the livery for the RA107. Instead of a traditional livery dotted with sponsors, the team simply slapped on a big image of the earth as a method of promoting environmental consciousness. Honda did have sponsors: the idea was that by simply being associated with the team they’d be seen as environmentally friendly companies. Did it work? As a livery, we can’t decide whether or not we like it. Looking back, it’s actually kinda cool and we’ve always got some love for a unique approach. However, the black at the rear of the car (which is supposed to represent space) slightly spoils the overall effect. Plus, for some reason, it’s not especially memorable – probably because the car was an absolute dog…
Birthdays
Rupert Keegan (born 1955) started 25 grands prix between 1977 and 1982. He didn’t score any points but given that he drove for teams like Hesketh, Surtees, Ram and March, that was hardly surprising. His best finish came for Hesketh at the 1977 Austrian GP where he ended up a strong seventh on a drying track, beating the likes of John Watson, Emerson Fittipaldi and Patrick Depailler.
