Manuel Maldonado is racing in BRDC British Formula 3 this year and has lived up to his cousin Pastor’s reputation…
During his time in Formula 1, Pastor Maldonado developed a reputation for on-track clashes and incidents – it’s one of the reasons why we miss him so much.
His cousin Manuel is driving in British F3 in 2017 with Fortec but the Rockingham round didn’t go particularly well for the youngster.
In race three, he attempted a move up the inside of Omar Ismail but it went spectacularly wrong. He ended up crashing into another car before then taking out Ismail.
Maldonado apparently ended up being excluded from the event for “driving in a matter not compatible with safety” after the kamikaze move.
Sure, he’s only in his second season of single-seater racing and has a lot to learn, but the move was way too ambitious. The fact Pastor is his cousin makes it hilariously ironic, too.
