It’s that time of year we affectionately name ‘the silly season’ where the media make up crazy stories and everyone is rumoured to be joining Ferrari. This year though has seen somewhat of a ‘sensible season’ with drivers announced as staying put, Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari, Pastor Maldonado at Lotus and now Sergio Perez at Force India.

“Since coming here I’ve really grown as a driver and I feel I’m performing at my best,” said Perez. “I’ve always said I want to establish myself in a team and it’s the right moment to announce my commitment for the future with Sahara Force India.”

After starting his career with Sauber, the Mexican joined McLaren before he was dropped in favour of Kevin Magnussen. Something he’s probably thankful for now, considering McLaren’s recent struggles.

The news confirms that Force India will be keeping the same driver line-up as they’ve been with since 2014, having confirmed Nico Hulkenberg earlier this year.
