Aston Martin is back in Formula One after all… kind of. So it may not have been the Force India takeover that was rumoured a lot over the winter but the iconic British sportscar manufacturer has teamed up with Red Bull as part of a technology partnership.
Red Bull had originally been linked to Aston Martin last year in the hope of bagging Mercedes engines but instead this new partnership (for now at least) doesn’t bring much to the F1 team other than a few sponsor logos.
Where things get exciting though is a new Aston Martin hypercar which will be designed by Red Bull Racing’s big-brained-genius Adrian Newey and Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman.
“It’s an incredible project and also realises a dream and vision long held by Adrian to design a road car,” said Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner. “We are very much looking forward to what I’m certain will be a successful partnership.”
Codenamed the AM-RB 001, the hypercar is set to be a fusion of cutting edge F1 tech and Aston Martin’s beautiful sportscar design. Awesome.
