Red Bull Set To Ditch Renault Engines In 2016

After spending most of the year bitching about each other it seems that Red Bull and Renault’s relationship is set to come to a somewhat bitter-end at the end of this season.

According to AUTOSPORT the partnership that won eight consecutive titles together between 2010 and 2013 will be coming to an end, leaving Red Bull with likely either a Mercedes or Ferrari power unit for 2016.

Red Bull have had a rocky relationship with Renault since the new regulation changes came into place at the beginning of last year and numerous engine change penalties at Monza (and the fact they almost got overtaken by a McLaren Honda at one point) was probably the nail in the coffin for the engine partnership.

With both Red Bull and Toro Rosso leaving it is likely Renault’s only option to stay in Formula One would be a takeover of the Lotus team.
