The Renault Clio Cup series is known for its dramatic, door-banging racing but the opening race at Donington lasted one corner before being red flagged.
Leaders Paul Rivett, Lee Pattison and Shayne Deegan tangled on the exit of Turn 1 with three into one not working out.
Deegan’s car was spun across the track in the clash, which probably resulted in a clean pair of race overalls being needed afterwards.
A stationary Renault Clio race car sitting in the middle of the circuit naturally sparked chaos behind, with various drivers involved and Lucas Orrock’s machine being pitched into a scary roll in the drama.
With cars scattered across the circuit and run-off, the race was red flagged for it to be cleared before restarting. Mike Bushell escaped the mayhem of the first start to win.
