
Formula One PR events are often pretty crap these days, but this latest one from Red Bull is far from that. They got Daniel Ricciardo to return to his father’s birthplace in Sicily, but rather than sending him to a local restaurant to try the local pasta and drink some team sponsored fruit juice, they did something truly awesome.

Sicily was the home of a completely bonkers road race known as the Targa Florio, which was part of the World Sportscar Championship back in the seventies and the holder of the all-time lap record just so happens to be Red Bull’s Helmut Marko, the man Ricciardo impressed enough to make it through the Red Bull Junior Team and into the race winning Formula One team.
So what better way for Ricciardo to visit his Italian routes than to drive Marko’s Alfa Romeo T33 that was used to set the record 33 minutes 41 second lap time?

Just look how happy he looks, even for Ricciardo that’s an exceptionally large grin!
