As well as Super GT, Jenson Button has decided to join his old teammate Fernando Alonso in the WEC this year, driving a BR1 LMP1 car for the SMP Racing team (yep, that’s the car that took off at Raidillon) alongside Vitaly Petrov and Mikhail Aleshin.
His Super GT commitments meant he missed the opening round in Spa but he’ll be in the car for the rest of the season, and that means his debut will come at Le Mans. Obviously he needs a bit of seat time in the car before tackling a track like La Sarthe, so JB headed to Magny-Cours for a few hours of testing and plonked some footage on his YouTube channel.
Dang, makes you miss Magny-Cours from the F1 calendar, doesn’t it? Imagine this year’s current cars charging through the first couple of corners and those high-speed chicanes…
