Russell Didn’t Expect His Mercedes To Be So Quick After Securing Brazil Sprint Win

WOW! Once again, Brazil provided the best F1 Sprint of the season, and it was FULL of excitement! Can we have that race again, please? If this is what we received today, we’re definitely looking forward to tomorrow’s Grand Prix.

And I bet Mercedes are too, because there were FLYING out there today 🚀

With George Russell starting P3 and Lewis Hamilton starting P8, we expected a climb through the pack but most definitely not a front grid lockout for tomorrow’s race. George fought his way to P1 after a three-lap battle with Max, and with Carlos taking an engine penalty, Lewis moved up a spot to P2.

“It was incredible,” George said during the post-sprint interview. “I wasn’t expecting to have that much pace, but it shows how much progress we as a team have made.

“Standing here is a great feeling. It’s crazy to think we are both starting on the front row – I’m sure Max will be flying tomorrow, but we’ll go for the win.”

Lewis also praised the team, dedicating the front row to “everyone at the factory who have been working so, so hard”.

We can’t get too excited yet, as Hamilton is currently under investigation for a start procedure infringement, said to be for being out of grid position. Oops.

A possible penalty aside, you can’t deny the pace of that Mercedes today.

Can George or Lewis turn a 1-2 into a win tomorrow?
