The first rule for team-mates is to never crash into each other, but it seems Kvyat didn’t get the memo…
Yep, Toro Rosso’s British Grand Prix didn’t get off to the best start when Kvyat clashed with Carlos Sainz Jr. on the opening lap at Silverstone.
Kvyat and Sainz were running side-by-side through Maggots – which takes some serious bravery, so, well done for trying.
But, as they went through Becketts, Sainz turned in to take the corner and Kvyat lost the rear slightly, clattering into the side of his team-maye.
This spun both cars across the grass, with Sainz clipping Kevin Magnussen as he rejoined the track. Sainz was out on the spot, while Kvyat continued with some damage.
The above view gives us a great look at how the Kvyat/Sainz collision looked from the grandstands – with Kvyat eventually being given a drive-through for rejoining the track unsafely.
We imagine the post-race debrief will be pretty awkward at Toro Rosso later…
