Remember Ayrton Senna’s last competitive go-kart was for sale? Well it was sold at the Grand Palais in Paris for a massive £43,355. That’s way more than the upper estimate of £22,000, almost double if my bad maths are correct.
The 1981 DAP Kart, chassis no. DAP BH33, was supposedly the kart Senna drove in his last competitive kart race before focussing on Formula Ford for the rest of the season, so it really is a unique piece of Senna history.
It wasn’t just the kart being auctioned off though, other items from the Bonhams auction included the best car ever, otherwise known as a Ferrari F40, and a Harley-Davidson once owned by a Pope, presumably Pope Bad Ass the first.
