In 2010, Asif Kapadia’s brilliant Senna documentary film was released but the on-screen story of Ayrton Senna’s life could have been very, very different.
According to Sylvester Stallone, the three-time world champion wanted the Rocky-star to play him in a film about his life.
In this video from Senna TV, Stallone shares the story of how Senna gifted him one of his race helmets and asked him to do his life story.
Senna died shortly after gifting the helmet to Stallone, who then decided he could no longer do the film.
Instead he gave the world Driven, the 2001 motorsport movie about CART which was… well just watch this clip to see how absolutely ridiculous it was.
Thank fuck he didn’t make that Senna movie.
