The Le Mans 24 Hours is undoubtedly the toughest race in the world and after so many laps, it’s understandable the field in each class would be fairly spread out.

But, while the LMP1 cars all suffered issues and problems, it was a different story in the GTE Pro category – with the two front-runners fighting right to the very end.

The No.63 Corvette of Jordan Taylor led the way with 10 minutes to go but the No.97 of Jonny Adam was right behind and even tried a dive down the inside with the chequered flag closing in.

He couldn’t make the move stick and the battle recommenced, with the cars separated by tenths as they entered the final lap of Le Mans.

But then, suddenly, as they exited the final corner to start the last tour of the Circuit de la Sarthe, Taylor’s Corvette slowed and Adam stormed ahead.

It proved to be a puncture for the Corvette. On the last lap. That’s got to hurt…

While it was late heartbreak for Corvette, Aston Martin took the win and we got to see a thrilling battle in the final moments.
