The Technicolour Williams Was The Highlight Of Hungary Testing

The end of the Hungarian GP didn’t quite signify the start of the summer break as there was the small matter of the two-day test at the circuit afterwards.

A few teams used the test to gather data for next year with some early versions of the 2019-spec front wings.

Williams was another team testing the wing and doused it in some rather fetching blue flow-vis paint for the occasion.

The real attraction was saved for the second day of the test, though. The blue flow-vis was gone and replaced with this multi-coloured display of awesomeness with Robert Kubica behind the wheel:

Not sure if testing next year’s aero or next year’s livery. Looks amazing though, right?

As for the times, George Russell was the fastest for Mercedes, with Antonio Giovinazzi second for Ferrari ahead of Kimi Raikkonen. The times were faster than any of those set during the grand prix weekend and actually unofficial lap records, although of course, tyre compounds and track conditions were very different.

Haas didn’t bother testing in order to save money, whilst Toro Rosso ran two cars – one for the regular test, the other as part of Pirelli’s 2019 tyre testing programme.
